What I'm Packing for Memorial Day Weekend

Ahoy long weekend! Who else is ready for a four-day weekend and the kick-off to summer?! It's been so rainy lately -- as I write this it's raining cats and dogs and I'm making soup in the crock pot...so...yeah, I'm ready for the summer vibes to kick in!

We're heading to our friends' lake house for the holiday and I'm so excited to do something fun and summery! And feel actual, real sunshine on my skin (though you know I'll be getting my sunless tan on beforehand at Bella Solé and wearing SPF 45.) All the excitement has me making lists and packing suitcases well in advance of the trip...but since I have to pack for both me and Harlow (and the dogs...and plan the logistics...and do the grocery shopping...and get the cooler ready for the refrigerated items...yada yada yada) it's a good thing I'm getting a head start.

Anyways, let's talk clothes and shoes!

First things first: swim suits and towels! Harlow loves the water and I've heard talk that there are jet skis at the house, so we'll be living in our bathing suits for the weekend (I hope!). Here's what I'm packing in my lake/pool/beach bag:

The bag itself was a Target score last year and I will probably pack all of Harlow's stuff in it and then reuse the bag for a lakeside tote. Here are over twelve similar bags I included in the market-straw bag shop edit I put together last week.

I always carry a soft zip pouch in my tote bag to store my wallet, phone, keys, and other small items in so I don't have to dig around to find them. This one's an old J. Crew find but I'd really like to trade up to this glitter version they've got now!

Three turkish towels, one for each of us...Mike gets the baby pink one ;D

A hooded terrycloth towel to wrap Harlow in (baby's in hooded towels might be the cutest thing on the planet.)

An oldie-but-goodie palm print cover-up -- I usually just repurpose older comfy dresses for cover-ups. Here's a palm print kaftan I love for this year!

Pink slides just in case I need to go somewhere that I can't be barefoot.

Both of my Sugar Coast bathing suits that I looooove! I've worn the parrot print halter several times to Harlow's swim lessons so I'm excited to take the heart print suit for a spin. The low back (shown) and side cut outs make this one sassy one-piece :D

Harlow's bathing suits are just too stinkin' cute. The rainbow ruffle one reminds me of rainbow sherbet...and is it just me or does every little girl need something with watermelons on it? The watermelon tutu bathing suit kills me!

I'm packing my stuff in my new Weekender bag that my girls gave me for my birthday! (Thanks ladies, love y'all!) I've been wanting this ESCAPE canvas bag from the Charleston Weekender for awhile now and I can't wait to use it a lot on all my travels this summer.

My favorite fave fave leopard print sandals are back this year and I cannot recommend them highly enough! The sole is rubberized which makes them extra comfy.

New suede wrap-around sandals in go-with-everything taupe.

That linen scoop neck tank I wear with everything from denim shorts to ruffled skirts.

Speaking of, jean shorts are a no-brainer and I love the wash of these.

A colorful striped tee to lounge around in. I always go for lose, soft cotton tees after I've come in from a day in the sun and showered. They feel so good on apres soleil skin!

We've got a baby sitter booked so I'm breaking out my new one-shoulder top for dinner and drinks!

Will be wearing the top with this pink ruffled midi skirt that I'm obsessed with!

Really wishing Harlow's yellow fiesta dress came in my size.

I'll let her own the cuteness of this polka dot flamingo bubble. She's almost grown out of the Carters bubbles and I'll be sad when that happens; they make my baby look like a baby (does that make sense?)

***

I'm excited to pack so many of my old and new favorites! I'm sure I'll try to squeeze a few extra things in at the end, but honestly I can usually tell which pieces I'm excited to wear and which pieces I'm just throwing in for volume. We're women, we like options, but I really do enjoy not having to sit on my suitcase (or weekender bag) to shut it and then having to unpack a zillion things when we get back.

How are you spending your long weekend? Are you gonna shop some of the amazing sales? I'm sure I'll be cozied up with a coffee and an iPad at some point, doing some damage ;) Hope you have a fab holiday and start to the summer of 2017!
