Life Lately: Thanksgiving Weekend

Good morning! I'm having coffee by my Christmas tree this morning feeling like a giddy little girl that we're officially in the holiday season! Except that I just can't believe that it's almost December already, and that Thanksgiving weekend has already come and gone. Time definitely didn't seem to pass this fast when I was a kid...but of course I was wishing I was older the whole time...and now I I'd love to be a kid again! It's funny how that works :D

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving we went out to Zia for tacos and their chicken plato. Zia is honestly the only place I go that I'm excited to order chicken.

I'm wearing these olive moto leggings that are marked down to just $20! Seriously they're such a great option to put on with a sweater and a fleece for chilly early morning runs to pre-school.

I received the most amazing box of leather earrings from Sparkles and Stags before I left. They're handmade in Canton, NC (just west of Asheville) and so pretty and lightweight! I wore the brown pair and can't wait to wear the other two during the holidays -- those gold snakeskin earrings are sooo pretty when they shimmer in the light!

We spent Thanksgiving at our Aunt Debbie (aka Granty) and Uncle Rusty's house outside of Knoxville, TN. Even though I grew up in western NC I had never been to Knoxville until now! The downtown area is soooo cute, and the southern countryside around it was so relaxing. Their house was near a lake and we saw wild deer running through the woods -- Harlow kept saying "Mommy, more deer!" Haha!

A sweater dress is my go-to holiday outfit because it's so comfortable and easy and is just the right level of dressy. Mine is sold out but this gray sweater dress is very similar and on sale for $31!

Friday night we went to downtown Knoxville for their Christmas tree lighting event. It was really fun -- they even had a fireworks show after they lit the tree! Harlow was a champ and didn't cry or get scared at all! We were all so proud of her :D When we came home we played our own version of Minute To Win It and me and Jordan won! Team Turkey!

My mother-in-law, Terry, and Aunt Debbie got us all matching pjs with a custom Tennessee patch with a heart charm over Knoxville. They could not be any cuter or more thoughtful!

On Sunday we went into full Christmas mode, starting with going to get our Christmas tree! Y'all I am such a sucker for sentimentality and so of course I was kind of teary thinking about decorating our first home as a family of three for the holidays. When we bought our house I visualized Harlow running down the hall to the tree in the living room and it's happening!

We bought our tree at Little Girls Christmas Tree lot in Arden, NC, across from Nativity church. They had lots to choose from and I was surprised at how many of them were symmetrical and a good height.

Harlow loved unboxing the ornaments and putting them all in her lap at once. Growing up that was my favorite part, too -- finding my favorite ornaments and getting to put them on the tree. My brother and I would inevitably fight about who got to hang which ones, especially the Disney ornaments :)

I finally got us some nice stockings to use year after year! I love the faux fur collection from Pottery Barn. I got this style for Mike and I, and then this polar bear stocking for Harlow with the personalization. Both styles are currently on sale for $23!

Do you think I'm done decorating?? Heck no! I've got some more fun ideas that I hope to share in a decor post soon!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and you're already enjoying the holiday spirit! Have a great day xo
