DIY Fall Centerpiece on a Budget

I'm so excited to share this budget-friendly DIY fall centerpiece idea today! I started nesting like nobody's business a couple weeks ago. Sweaters, slow cooker, snuggly things. Thing is, it doesn't really feel like fall outside so much so I'm forcing the fall feels inside with some seasonal decor. And I'm thrilled with the results!

My goal was to decorate my dining room table on a budget using a mix of pieces I already owned with a few new ones. I also wanted to be able to use many of the same items for both fall and Christmas. This is what I came up with!

My dining room shares one big space with my living room, and the style is a unique blend of midcentury, modern, and glam. In order for my tabletop decor to go with the room, I needed to bring all of those elements into harmony in my centerpiece. Multiple metallics, midcentury flourishes, and of course rustic, autumnal pieces.

I already owned this white table runner and planned to use my wedding china for my dishes since they have that pretty silver trim. Using the trim to bring in the silver tones, I found round gold placemats for $2 each and a gold 'Gather' script accent for under $10! Compared to another $70+ version it was a steal! Of course the other one is much bigger -- about twice the size -- but with all the other elements on the table the small size made more sense in a lot of ways.

The final touch was adding faux succulent picks to the garland for added pops of color. The burgundy, lavender, and reddish tones broke up the greenery and introduced more quintessential fall colors. Succulents are also a midcentury-modern's plant of choice, so I liked how they coordinated with my living room furniture.

All of the pieces on my tabletop come from Target and Hobby Lobby, both very affordable places to source home decor. Between the Cartwheel app and Hobby Lobby's 40% off seasonal decor promotion, all of this was doable on my limited budget. I think all in everything cost around $150 for an eight-person place setting and centerpiece (excluding the china).

I plan to reuse the placemats, garland, and birch candle holders during Christmas as well. Replacing the pumpkins with pinecones and/or red berry sprigs would make nice plate toppers. The 'Gather' sign can be switched out for something like a reindeer, Santa Claus, or something else delightful I haven't found yet! This whole project made me a huge Hobby Lobby fan so I'm sure I'll be perusing the aisles for something cheery after Thanksgiving.
