ORANGE SWEATER // PLAID PANTS // NECKLACE (old Gorjana, similar HERE and HERE)
When deciding what to wear for Thanksgiving my outfit options must satisfy one of the following criteria: there must be elastic; or it's got to be a dress. And if -- IF -- I wear jeans then by Jove they better be high-waisted with room to give. Because blowing a button off your pants after dinner is not a good look on anyone (though you'd have one solid story to share with your kids one day).
Comfy and cute, seasonally chic, and adept at disguising your pie-and-potato bloat. These are all things that make a great Thanksgiving outfit in my book! With that in mind I've got five outfit ideas for what to wear this Thanksgiving no matter how, when, or wear you celebrate!
1 | Floral + Flowy
Not only are moody fall florals trending but on a maxi dress they're Thanksgiving Day gold. Pick a fabric with plenty of movement on a silhouette that falls away from the body. Style with a fitted jacket or faux fur vest and booties.
FLORAL MAXI DRESS (under $50, so is THIS and THIS dress) // REVERSIBLE FAUX FUR VEST (old Zara, similar) // BOOTIES
2 | Print Blouse + Jeans
You and I both know jeans are our default item of choice...except maybe on Thanksgiving Day. You better love the way they fit before trying to fit stuff extra turkey and dressing into your Levis, girl! All kidding aside, I like girlfriend or "mom jeans" in this case -- they're high waisted and fall straight through the leg for a comfier fit. Style with a statement print blouse and mules to dress up your denim.
BLOUSE (just $10!, also love THIS and THIS) // JEANS (old H&M, similar) // SHOES
3 | Plaid Pants + Cami + Cardigan
These might be the holy grail of Thanksgiving pants y'all. Guess what's hiding in these bad boys -- an elastic waist! (Cue the Ferris Bueller "ohhh yeeeahh.") If your Thanksgiving outfit needs to go dressy-casual, choose a printed pant then style with a simple cami and cozy cardigan sweater. The high-waisted pants and elastic waistband will keep you comfy while the cami and simple heels dress it up.

4 | Sweater Dress + Blazer +
Over the Knee Boots
Thanksgiving in New York comes to mind when I see this look. It's luxe and stylish with tons of functionality built in. Start with a warm sweater dress as your base layer, then style with over-the-knee boots and a fitted blazer. If the hem of the dress comes over the top of your boots, you'll get an extra layer of insulation. Adding a fur collar to your blazer is an easy way to make your outfit appear more expensive and feel even cozier! Carry a nice handbag to finish the look.

5 | Plaid Pants + Seasonal Sweater
We're back to the pants (they're just SO good) but this time we're using a sweater in a seasonal hue to finish the look. Sometimes orange feels a little harsh, or 'on the nose' this time of year, but with a printed pant and simple necklace it looks way more elevated. And ya'll, is this sweater soft and roomy! Combined with the elastic waist of the pants I see two slices of pie in my future.

Dressing for Thanksgiving Day is always so fun in my opinion! You can start casually then change into something more festive closer to dinner. Also a good idea for hosts -- no gravy stains on your good blouse girlfriend!
How do you dress for Thanksgiving? Are you super casual, a little dressy, or somewhere in between? Do you put extra thought into it or just wear whatever comes to mind that day? I love knowing how people like to dress for special occasions and celebrations!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing!
