Summer Capsule Wardrobe: 14 Pieces, 9 Outfits
Back in the spring I committed to building a capsule wardrobe of core pieces to base the majority of my outfits around. I got so sick and tired of stuff taking over my life; stuff I accumulated from impulse or under the influence of stylish fellow blogger. I am not immune to their powers, and to this day I am still weak for the right piece at the right price. Buuuut I have really curbed my "heart eyes shopper" habits and formed new habits in favor of more intentional, purposeful shopping.
And today you get to see it in action! (Like literally...here's a video of all these looks live and thriving in my living room.)
For this video/post, I took 14 pieces -- old and new -- to create several outfits from. Nine, in fact. (I originally miscounted and said eight but oh ho! I have nine, how 'bout it!) And these 14 pieces include shoes and accessories! Here are all the pieces I used in this post and in my style video. You can find items details in the outfit descriptions below!
I really want this to demonstrate how a few key pieces can create the versatility we all desire in our closets. And, perhaps inspire you to 'shop your closet' and rethink some pieces you've had for awhile! For instance, the yellow skirt, striped t-shirt, lace-up sandals, and straw bag are all over a year old. Why are they still stylish today? Because they're classic in terms of style and silhouette, and they fit like a champ.
Here's a rundown of all nine looks created from my summer capsule wardrobe. If you want to see them "in real life" moving and shaking on a real body, check out the companion video to this post.
Getting dressed during the summer is about the easiest it gets all year. Throw on a dress and go...or pre-style your capsule pieces to grab when you're on the go! What's your go-to, every day outfit in the summertime? Do you stay within a small range of styles or do you like to branch out depending on your mood? I think I fall into the latter category as long as I'm not hot!
Thanks for coming by The Tony Townie today! Your time, support, and shares are all so very appreciated! And don't forget to watch the video of all these looks in action!
