Every Outfit I Wore In Louisville

August 9, 2019

Happy Friday lovelies!  I'm capping off my week of all-things bourbon with a recap of every outfit I wore on our trip to Kentucky.  I already shared with you a preview of my looks in my 'What To Pack For The Bourbon Trail' post, so today I'm showing you those outfits in action!  And the best part: every single piece costs less than $80.

As I mentioned in my packing list post, when you're traveling to Kentucky in July you've got to dress for the heat.  Walking around for hours in the dog dogs of summer is not for the faint of heart, my friend.  But determined we were and prepared I was with lightweight fabrics and loose silhouettes to keep me cool all day long.

Travel Outfit One

Ahh, this photo takes me back to the day we accidentally drove the Tail of the Dragon into Tennessee (318 curves in 11 miles) and I got so car sick.  At least I had this super soft summer sweater keeping me comfy and safe from Mike's turbo ice A/C setting.  It comes in 15 (!!) colors for just $23.  I'm wearing White (not White 2).

I mentioned in my Instagram Stories that I always travel with my Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote because it holds everything!  I'm a major advocate of shopping lightly used, pre-owned Louis bags to save a little money.  They're made of tough stuff and hold their value like crazy!  I did also just stumble upon a $50 dupe of the Damier square print in both the brown and white colors.

Day One | Bardstown & Louisville

I wore this flowy gingham dress for our road trip to Bardstown and Louisville.  I snapped this first pic in the Library Bar of our hotel.  Our hotel had so many fun places to explore, including a super sneaky speakeasy hidden behind a big painting.  You can see more snaps from our hotel and our entire trip in my Louisville Travel Guide.

That night we went to dinner at The Eagle on Bardstown Road for some fried chicken.  We felt like setting a good base for the next day's trek down the bourbon trail was a smart move.  The food was delicious!  I wore this $40 halter dress that can be dressed up or down.  The deep-cut open back is a fun detail.

Day Two | Bourbon Trail Tour

That Friday we booked a private tour with Mint Julep Tours to drive us around to the distilleries spread out south of Louisville.  Our itinerary spanned over eight hours and started at 8:45AM.  I wore this tailored white romper and it was perfect.  The smocked waistline and tie belt gave my figure shape while the wider-cut leg was ideal for comfort while walking in the high heat.  Also - if I'm being perfectly candid - the wide legs also let you tinkle by pulling them to the side versus getting naked in a public bathroom stall.  I'm just saying...

Day Three | Urban Bourbon Trail

Saturday we stayed in Louisville and walked around Whiskey Row before Uber'ing around the city to other distilleries.  Not to repeat myself but WOW it was so hot.  After five minutes of walking we were toast.  I wore this super cute linen mini dress because A) linen is lightweight, and B) the open back felt like a gift (and is so pretty, too!).  In the name of facial sun protection I wore this straw boater hat and these lace-up sandals to finish the look.

Travel Outfit Two

Okay, so I did wear this dress on our trip but on our travel day back home I was so exhausted I wasn't thinking "oh let me photograph my outfit."  By Sunday I was swollen from all the bourbon drinking and salty fried chicken (#noregrets) and I needed a flowy dress like nobody's business.  So I'm sharing a pic my mama snapped from right before we left when we went makeup shopping together.  I own this dress in two colors, it's so good.  It's pretty to look at but feels like a muumuu on.

What do you like to wear on vacation?  Do you have dedicated travel outfits for maximal comfort while still managing to look put together?  Gimme all the dresses and light sweaters for summer travel!

That's a wrap on bourbon week coverage y'all!  It was such an amazing trip I was sad when it was over and now I'm kinda sad all over again to wrap up Bourbon Week here on the blog.  Feel free to email or DM me on Instagram with any specific questions you have about planning your own trip!
