6 Ways To Wear Snakeskin Boots

November 7, 2019

It's well established that snakeskin boots are like PSLs and pumpkin patches this fall - they're everywhere!  On Tuesday I reviewed these $32 snakeskin booties and why I love them (besides their inexpensive price tag).  Today I'm sharing six outfits with six ways to wear this trendy shoe through fall and winter.

Sometimes the most statement-making trends strike our fancy but we're not sure what to do with the pieces once we add them to our closet.  Today's goal is to provide some guidance on how to get the most wear out of your snakeskin booties (or to convince you to try them, mayhaps?  See my top picks below!).  Be sure to check out each outfit's style notes for styling and sizing tips.

Snakeskin Booties: My Top Picks

Outfit One | Moto Jacket + Graphic Tee

For starters, try a classic-trendy blend with a chic moto jacket and an on-trend graphic tee (band tees are really big this year).  Add some edge with ripped skinnies in a lighter wash.  Tuck your jeans into the booties IF they're full-length jeans -- whether your jeans should go in or stay out of your boots depends entirely on their length.  Finish with a gauzy scarf for a boho vibe.

GRAPHIC TEE (also available in Asheville at Nest Boutique)

Outfit Two | Belted Utility Jacket

Start with all-black base layers.  I'm wearing a black turtleneck to show a pop of color above the neckline of the jacket, but you could wear any black sweater or tee.  I'm also wearing black jeans.  Layer an olive or khaki utility jacket over top; if it has a waist tie, go ahead and tie it in a half knot.  Fasten a brown belt at your natural waist line over top of the jacket's tie.  The belt helps define your body's shape, and it picks up the brown tones in the boots.

Outfit Three| Sweater Dress

A sweater dress is so chic and cozy for a dressier fall outfit.  You can style it up with some fun layers, accessories, and...snakeskin boots!  I used the belt again to define my waist in this long, semi-clingy knit dress.  I added brown, earthy tones with the same moto jacket as in outfit one, plus a crossbody bag.  The boots are a great vehicle for adding personality into this very neutral look.

Outfit Four | Monochromatic Gray

Layering all in one color creates a monochromatic look that's both chic and high(er) fashion.  It gives you instant style cred and it's so easy.  Choose a neutral in which you have all three pieces in the same or similar tone: sweater, coat, and jeans/pants.  I went with gray, but you could do camel/beige, winter whites, or black.  I did a French tuck on my sweater to show my waistline underneath the coat. The jeans are slightly ankle length so I intentionally pulled them out of my boots so they wouldn't look weirdly bunched in my shoes.  To bring back in the brown tones of the boots, I accessorized with a tan wide brim hat and brown handbag.

Outfit Five | Wide Leg Cropped Pants

Wide leg cropped pants aren't going anywhere despite the temperature change!  These pants look great with a higher profile boot (read: one that comes up higher on the ankle and leg).  I went with a mixture of black and brown neutrals...JUST like the mix in my boots!  You can play with which pieces are in which colors, just try to stay within the black/brown/tan/ivory family.  I finished the look with a leather moto jacket, but you could also wear a blazer or teddy coat.

Outfit Six | Canadian Tuxedo + Sweater Coat

A trendy take on a classic Canadian tuxedo LOL!  Which is really just an easy combo of wardrobe basics like a chambray shirt and straight leg jeans.  As I've been doing in all of the outfits, I added in a brown tone via the sweater coat, but you could do a boyfriend cardigan or blazer as well.  A wide brim hat would be a chic accessory to finish the look.

Which outfit best speaks your language?  How are you styling your snakeskin boots this fall?  Or are you taking a hard pass?  No wrong answers, just love to know!
